March 10, 2010 – Capital Wood Products is proud to be recognized for its work for Whole Foods Market with an Outstanding Merit award from the Association for Retail Environments (A•R•E). The A•R•E awards took place on March 10, 2010 at the venetian hotel, on the first day of GlobalShop. Sixty awards were given to 47 projects for the quality and innovation of their retail designs. Whole Foods Market's Lincoln Park location was awarded the Sustainable Project of the Year Award. Capital Wood Products was a design collaborator and major contributor of fixtures, including many using sustainable or recycled materials. The culmination of three years of eco-charrettes and special contractor training, Whole Foods Lincoln Park integrates comprehensive sustainable strategies into great design. Built to LEED Gold standards, it incorporates extensive green building practices and epitomizes the retailer’s environmental awareness core value. |
| 2009-09-21 - Capital Woods Earns Cub Community Cares Award |
Cub Foods is a discount food store chain in the United States, with 83 outlets in Minnesota and Wisconsin, most of which are open 24 hours a day. The Cub Cares Community Foundation is devoted to two key initiatives designed to make a difference in individual communities - hunger relief and youth education. The Foundation assists local food shelves with donated food, administers a local scholarship program for high school seniors and helps fund local charities that make a difference in the lives of community members.

Amongst many other features, the Lincoln Park location includes seven eateries highlighting Chicago neighborhoods, self serve coffee, trail mix and bulk bins, and a wine bar. Capital Woods worked closely with Whole Foods planners, architects and interior design teams to create a store that is a truly unique shopping experience. The third largest Whole Foods location in the world opened in Lincoln Park on May 20th. Capital Woods products is proud to have been an integral partner in developing a host of creative, and in many cases sustainable, custom fixtures for the massive 75,000 foot store.
